The Elements of Style, Fourth Edition
By William Strunk, Jr.

The Elements of Style (1918) (aka Strunk & White), by William Strunk, Jr., and E.B. White, is an American English writing style guide. It is the best-known, most influential prescriptive treatment of English grammar and usage, and often is required reading and usage in U.S. high school and university composition classes. The original, 1918 edition of The Elements of Style detailed eight elementary rules of usage, ten elementary principles of composition, “a few matters of form”, and a list of commonly misused words and expressions.

Asserting that one must first know the rules to break them, this classic reference book is a must-have for any student and conscientious writer. Intended for use in which the practice of composition is combined with the study of literature, it gives in brief space the principal requirements of plain English style and concentrates attention on the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated.

Pros and cons of The Elements of Style, Fourth Edition By William Strunk, Jr. app for iPhone and iPad

The Elements of Style, Fourth Edition By William Strunk, Jr. app good for

A terrific resource - and this original edition is actually more useful than the "improvements" made in later editions by E.B. White and Roger Angell. Thanks for making "The Little Book" available in its purest form!
If you write anything this book is a must own clasic! Glad to have a copy on my iPhone.

Some bad moments

This is a older version, and have a lot of differences than the current v4 in book store. Please update to the v4 version!!!!!!!
Save your money and just get the actual physical book. This app is prehistoric compared to how other books work on iPad. If I could return it I would.
Full of typos and spacing errors. Did the publisher bother to read the copy?
I was delighted to find an app for this essential reference, and this one does reproduce the text. Unfortunately it is filled with typos and poor formatting, which is not only ironic, but also confusing. If you want a ready copy of Elements on you phone or iPad, its probably worth the 99 cents, but you will likely be annoyed by its errors.
It seems silly not to hire someone to simply clean up the typos here and provide an updated version. This is an indispensable teaching guide that I require all of my high school English students to use, and I would encourage them to buy this IF it were not filled with errors. Get your act together, Jasmine Patel! If youre selling an app for a writing book, fix the writing if you want it to sell.
